Peeing Like a Big Girl

Tonight was a milestone night! Juliette didn’t have a diaper on this evening – she wanted her underwear instead after her last change. So just after dinnertime she was standing in the kitchen playing with her kitchen set when she stopped, looked at Becoming-A-Mom and tapped her crotch, saying “pee pee.”

Becoming-A-Mom asked, “do you need to go pee pee?” and Juliette nodded. So quickly, off they went to the bathroom!

Juliette dutifully sat on her Peppa Pig toilet seat looking pleased, saying “pee pee!” when all of a sudden there was a tinkling noise in the toilet. Juliette had just done her first pee into the toilet! She laughed and looked extremely proud of herself.

She insisted on sitting there for another 5 minutes until she could force herself to pee again, and again was very excited to hear the tinkling noise in the toilet. She stayed there another few minutes before we could finally persuade her to come down and put on her diaper.

So, at 20 months old Juliette has suddenly discovered how to control her bladder (a bit!) and that it’s fun to pee in the toilet.

Man, this whole little essay just goes to show you how having a baby will turn even the most grim, sour guy into a pile of mush over things like pee. Be forewarned!
