Growing Like a Mad Weed
This is kind of the old-news/new-news post. Little Juliette is continuing to grow like mad – now wearing 6 months clothes (she’s been in them for at least 3 weeks, and she’s less than 4-1/2 months old) and some of them she can’t even fit now! So much for Becoming-A-Mom’s planning to buy outfits in advance for the expected seasons etc.
This is probably a common thing for today’s parents – everyone has given us tonnes of different outfits and blankets and who-knows-what. To the point where we’re completely over-loaded. Many of these outfits have either been worn once or never at all as Juliette has outgrown them before we’ve had a chance to try them out! So now we have piles and piles of outfits that she’s no longer needing as well as a huge selection of clothes for the coming months. What do you do with all these virtually-new clothes?
First option: give them away to friends who are expecting babies soon. Yes, we know a few now! (I’ll cover that in my next post – sheesh!)
Second option: take them to a consignment shop to sell. Most consignment shops here are 40:60 split between owner and shop, and as most items are going to sell for under $10 we’re lucky to get $20 for a small bagful of clothes.
Third option: donate them to a woman’s shelter, charity, whatever. A good option also.
Fourth option: join a baby clothing/item swap group. I’m not sure if there’s one in Vancouver but I know of a couple on the interweb thing. Maybe I should start one for the local market.
I’m being summoned to go out now… Juliette and Becoming-A-Mom are wanting to go for a walk somewhere while the weather is nice. More soon!
