Baby Boom Bada Boom

Wow. I mentioned a couple of posts ago that you could give your old baby clothes/items to people you know who are expecting babies. And wow, we’ve got lots of options to choose from now!

It seems that all of our friends who did not have a baby already are now expecting all at the same time – between February and April 2010. So far I think it’s up to 4 couples, with one set of twins on the way. I would not be surprised to find out that at least one more couple is expecting a baby or two in the next month or so.

Having just gone through having a single baby, I can’t imagine how we’d have coped with twins. Honestly, Becoming A Dad with a single baby has been enough work. And as we don’t have any family locally to help us out, it’s been difficult at times. If we had twins, I don’t think we’d still be sane. I’m sure that I’d be Becoming A Zombie instead of a Dad, and depending on the day I’m zombified enough as it is.

Back to the topic. We were out shopping on the weekend. In the neighborhood we visited – 4th Avenue, Kitsilano – there are a lot of maternity and baby shops. So naturally one would expect to see babies and pregnant women. But what we experienced was bloody ridiculous! It seemed that at least 1 in 5 women that walked by either had a baby or toddler in tow, and/or was bulging to the breaking point. One woman in particular I would not have been surprised to see lie down and give birth right then!

So it seems we’re in the middle of another baby boom. Boom bada boom bada boom, baby!
