The Magic of Swaddling
Well, further update to my last post – baby Peach the little doll is sleeping pretty peacefully for 3-4 hours at a stretch now. Thank God for swaddling! Our method is to double-wrap her – first in one blanket, then a second one over top. That makes sure she doesn’t wiggle out of it during the night.
She still makes funny little yelps once in a while during the night. Mom doesn’t seem to hear them at all and sleeps through them. Me, I jump. It’s like having someone jab me in the guts with a Taser. And since last night she was doing this about every 15 minutes from midnight to 2:30 am, I’d just fall asleep in time to have another jolt of adrenaline pumped into my system.
Finally I gave up and went to sleep on the couch. Apparently she woke at 3 am to feed and then sleep through until 6:30 or so.
I mentioned this to Mom this morning, and she looked at me with surprise. Her comment? “Maybe she feeds every 3 hours only because I don’t wake up except every 3 hours!”
Man, I wish I could sleep like that!
