First Tears

This weekend was an interesting one.

Baby Peach is now almost 3 weeks old – she’ll be 21 days old tomorrow. And in those short days since she’s been with us, she’s changed a lot.

She’s now over 10 lbs, but exactly how much I’m not sure. Holding her in my arms and stepping on the scale shows her to be 10.5 lbs now. She’s definitely larger and heavier than just 1 week ago!

She’s also developed lots of muscle tone. She kicks with conviction now, and she’s able to hold her head up on her own for short periods. Yesterday she surprised me by being able to lift her head up at least 5 cm as she was lying face-down on my chest – she pushed herself up on her arms and lifted her head to look around, holding it up on her own for at least a minute before lying down again. Very surprising.

And as the title states, she’s now developing tears. Yesterday Mom fed her and then left to go to the chiropractor for a quick visit. I had baby Peach in a sling while I worked on the computer. Wouldn’t you know it? Within 5 minutes of Mom leaving, he who has Become a Dad was faced with a hungry baby who started crying and was inconsolable. She just kept crying and looking at me once in a while between wails as if to say “what good are you? Feed me!”

After 30 minutes of crying she fell asleep, at which point I noticed that she had the tiniest of tiny tears in each eye…

She’s really going to tear at the heartstrings once her tears develop fully.
