Week 40… and Counting
We’re officially at Week 40. Yes, today (March 6) is baby Peach’s due date.
And baby Peach is no where to be seen.
But we’re not too worried. First babies are often late, so nothing to stress about.
We had our visit with the midwife yesterday, who told us that all is well and that there is nothing to be concerned about. Ms. Pregnant’s cervix is still long but soft, and it was starting to dilate yesterday. Still no show or indications of labour impending, apart from mild contractions on irregular intervals.
Mom-to-Be’s belly has changed though. Instead of having periods of being tense and the rest of the time being relatively relaxed, it’s now tense most of the time. And even when she’s not having a contraction, her belly gets harder and rounder for a few minutes before relaxing a bit. This has been apparent for at least the last 3 days.
Baby Peach is still happily kicking and letting us know that it’s still there. We’re talking to Peach telling it that we’re ready and to come whenever feels right. All the worry that Peach would arrive early and disrupt Mom-to-Be’s vacation and our chores is gone and we truly are as prepared as we can be. So we think.
Ms. Pregnant is now tired and ready to not be pregnant any more… and to take her mind off of things she’s been out to a couple of movies in the past days. She’s at one right now (“He’s Just Not That Into You” – which I’m just not that into seeing). As for me, I had a short nap because I haven’t been sleeping at all over the past week – stress from work accumulated with ulcer-like problem, as well as the anticipation of Peach. Now I’m sitting in front of the computer in a bit of a stupor, trying to write something coherent.
The next full moon is on Tuesday, March 10. My money is on Tuesday night for Peach’s arrival – last full moon Peach was busy tumbling and boxing away for two full nights. And already Peach has started jumping around more than normal, so I’m figuring the full moon will be a trigger. Time will tell!
