T+ 2 Days and Counting…

Well, we’re now 2 days past our due date and not too much is happening. So far Ms. Pregnant has had a few random contractions here and there but nothing regular.

The midwife told us she was starting to dilate and the cervix was soft on Thursday, so all’s well in that regard. She had a very sore back Friday and Saturday but that seems to be lessening. The contractions that Mom-to-Be has felt have been short – under 15 seconds long – and very infrequent. We’re not sure that she’s feeling them, because yesterday I had my hands on her belly and could feel it get firmer and tighten but she didn’t notice anything different. Then a few seconds later she confirmed that yes, it was a contraction!

So of course the anticipation is beginning to build and Mom-to-Be is trying various things to help speed the onset of labour. She’s been drinking Raspberry Leaf tea to help tone her uterus muscles as well as taking Evening Primrose oil orally to help soften and dilate the cervix. We went for a walk uphill (midwife’s advice was to walk up and down hills or stairways) in the park yesterday too.

And breaking news: just a few minutes ago her mucus plug came out! She showed it to me – it looked like a clear lump of jelly/mucus, very similar to a handful of Vaseline. So now we know for sure the process is indeed in gear!
