Surprise Delivery
No, not us! But the baby boom has started.
One of my colleagues at work was due March 10, 4 days after us. However I just got an email from him in the morning telling me that his wife delivered last night at 10:12 pm!
The most shocking thing was that he was at work all day Thursday with no sign of anything impending.
The full story from him goes like this:
His wife was at work and her water broke, but she didn’t realize what was going on. She thought she just had to pee an awful lot. She didn’t feel any intense contractions or even realize that something was going on. She called her husband to ask if he was going to pick her up after work at the usual time and that was it.
After 5 pm they met up and headed out to get some food for dinner. She mentioned to him that her stomach felt funny, so they called up their doctor and asked a few questions. Within minutes they were directed to get to the hospital right away. They arrived at the hospital around 6 pm.
At 10:12 pm they were the proud parents of a 6 lb baby boy, healthy and happy if a bit surprised by it all. Born at 36 weeks and a few days, he’s developed enough that he had no problems and has not required any special care.
And now that I’ve shared this story with Mom-to-Be, she’s getting paranoid that Peach will arrive early and then all her plans will be thrown out the window. She has a very important appointment on Wednesday to write her Canadian Citizenship exam that she’s very anxious to attend, so we’ve been talking to baby Peach to tell it not to come before then!
Exciting times!
