Contractions?!?
Whoa – hot off the presses!
Apparently this morning she had a couple of what she thinks were contractions – around 7:30 am this morning. They weren’t too long, but she said they were definitely stronger than the mild cramping (similar to menstrual cramps she says) that’s been going on constantly for the past 2 weeks.
Her belly also feels much more firm than normal – the uterus feels full and tense like a well-inflated ball. Before it would change from being a bit softer so we could feel a bit of the outline of baby Peach easily with our hands. Now it’s more like running our hands over a yoga ball or the like.
Not much else seems to be happening, but this comes as a bit of a surprise. We’ve got a midwife appointment soon so we can go and see what she thinks… but we’re getting the feeling that Peach will be visiting us soon!
Mom-to-Be still has a couple of days of vacation left that she wants to use up… and the way Canadian maternity leave works, she can not be on vacation when the baby arrives. If she still has vacation left, she’ll get paid out for it and then go on maternity leave. But that vacation payment will be deducted from her maternity leave, so it means that overall she’ll have less income during her time off. So Mom-to-Be wants baby Peach to wait until Monday to be born.
As for me, I have a meeting on Saturday that I really want to attend… so I’m hoping Peach won’t start the process until Sunday at the earliest…
So for now, both of us are talking to baby Peach asking it to stay put until after the weekend! So far Peach has been very obedient and considerate – so we’re hoping the trend continues.
More news as it happens!
