Glucose Test #2
Well, she had her 3-hour glucose tolerance test today. She didn’t enjoy it much – she had to get to the lab for 7:30 am, give a blood sample then drink twice as much glucose as the first test (icky sweet she said). She had to sit in the waiting area for the next 3 hours, giving a new blood sample each hour. She took a book with her to help pass the time but it was a long wait.
She told me about a crazy guy who came to the lab a little later in the morning. He was clearly suffering from some sort of mental disorder and wanting to talk to anyone who’d listen to him. He prattled on about this and that, then declared that he was there “because the government wanted his blood” but he didn’t know why!
During this time I was visiting my chiropractor to have my attitude adjusted. Okay, just my back. The Pregnant One asked me to inquire about pre-natal chiropractic adjustments – this is supposed to help prepare the body for the passage of the baby. I of course forgot, so I’ll have to call.
After I picked her up she heated herself some leftovers to eat. She wasn’t really hungry but she said she was feeling weak in the legs. She’d only eaten the glucose and then a few almonds after the test so no doubt she was weak from a lack of food. After eating she went to lie down and the next thing I knew she was fast asleep. Over an hour later she was still deep asleep so I left her and went to do some errands.
She’s definitely feeling more tired lately. But I’ve noticed that she isn’t gagging or complaining of nausea any more, so I hope these irritations are done with.
