Secret Cravings
Well, she let the cat out of the bag today. Here I am thinking that she’s doing pretty well and not having any cravings except perhaps for cheese. But talking with some friends she let it slip that she’s been having cravings for french fries (with cheese and gravy!) and has indulged this a couple of times when at the mall. Naughty naughty!
She went out to check on some sales for baby clothes this week and came back with a few more sleepers and little knick-knacks for the kid. I think her list for 0-3 months is almost complete now, save for the big items like baby crib, changing table, stroller, car seat and things like that. She’s been squirrelling away a lot of clothes and toys for baby Pêche in the spare room. I haven’t been in there lately and have kind of been avoiding looking at what we’ve got. No doubt there will be lots of things in there that I’ve never seen before.
The latest thing we’ve been discussing is diapers. After my chat with my co-worker about his experiences (12 diapers a day!) I’m seriously beginning to question whether my original resolve to use washable diapers will hold. Not so much because I don’t want to deal with stinky poo-catchers, but because we don’t have our own washer and dryer and I can’t imagine how many cloth diapers we’d have to stock up to keep a ready supply on hand. And then there’s the whole debate on whether re-usable cloth diapers really are any better for the environment than disposable. I still believe they are (I don’t like the idea of plastic bags of poo-filled plastic diapers sitting in a landfill for the next 300 years) but sooner or later we’re going to have to make a decision.
