Ch-Ch-Changes

The Pregnant One has really changed in the time I’ve been away. Wow, she’s gotten big! Her belly is definitely noticeable and not likely to be mistaken for being overweight.

Peach is kicking a lot when she lies down – pretty much constant now. I can feel them clearly and even see the little ripples the baby is making through her belly.

One strange change is that Ms. Preg-o is obsessed about her nipples and breasts. Yes, they have continued to grow larger since conception. She’s now concerned about the big veins that are showing through her skin and the size that her nipples have grown. Can I talk about nipples on a blog? Yeah, since this is my own blog I guess I can.

A friend of ours who just had her second child a few months ago emailed an interesting suggestion. She told us that she started smearing some of the expressed breast-milk on her nipples after her baby was finished feeding and that stopped the nipple cracking she was suffering from. Before this she’d tried a lot of commercial preparations without success.

Ms. Pregnant remembers seeing women doing this in Africa but didn’t know why they were doing it. Now it all comes clear. Mother nature really knows her stuff.

We went out looking for baby cribs today. I was shocked at the price range – from a low of $80 to a high of $700. Sure, some of them were fancier than others, but the cost of a well-built one that converts into a toddler bed seems to be around $200. I’m completely lost as to why you’d feel the need to spend $700 on a crib.
Then again, in the shop with the $700 crib we overheard one of the sales ladies telling a customer, “oh yes, this is a very good price range” when demonstrating a $600 stroller. Sorry Peach, we’re not going to be shopping there. And I don’t care how much you cry, I’m not buying a $700 crib.
