Caffeine Withdrawal and Other Things

As expected the Pregnant One didn’t sleep very well. She kept rolling back and forth in the bed and woke up a couple of times choking on her reflux. Good thing she didn’t have to work today. She expressed regrets about eating so many nachos but said they were so good she couldn’t stop.

As for me, I’m continuing to struggle with incredibly bad caffeine withdrawal headaches bordering on migraines. They make me tired and irritable and sensitive to light, so sitting in front of the computer screen is not such an enjoyable thing. And since the majority of my work is on a computer, I need to get over this as soon as possible. I’m doing my best to fight through this. At least she doesn’t like coffee that much and has been almost caffeine-free since the beginning. Too much caffeine for pregnant women can cause miscarriages.

This evening we went out to the store to pick up one of those baby swings that was on sale. We got a Graco Lovin’ Hug swinging cradle for a really good price. We both agreed that whatever worked to soothe the baby was money well spent and we were both happy to get this.

Peach is also getting more active. Or at least stronger so that its movement is definitely noticeable. When I have my hand on her belly, I can clearly feel baby Peach punching and kicking. And if I lay my hand and forearm across her belly, I can often tell when the baby is turning over. I’m pretty sure I can tell where the arms and legs are – I think Peach is lying diagonally in the womb, with its feet up to her left and arm just right and below her belly button. Mom-to-Be doesn’t really believe that I can tell because she can’t feel this herself.

Ms. Pregnant is also continuing to have physical changes. She’s developing longer downy hairs on her belly – in the light you can see them. In fact her hair seems to be growing faster all over in general. Yet another thing that nobody tells you before you decide to have a kid! She’s also showing more of her veins beneath her skin, especially on her breasts and upper chest. And her breasts continue to grow along with her nipples which are darkening. Peach is going to have a good milk supply.
