A Furnace and a Blanket Croc

What I’ve noticed lately is how much Preg-o’s metabolism has increased. Normally she’s cold – perpetually cold hands and feet – and I’m the one who’s warm. Since she’s been in her second trimester I’ve noticed that she’s a little furnace. When I feel cold in the house she’s quite comfortable or too warm. In the car she’d normally turn up the heat but now she finds it stuffy when it’s on.

At night she’s even kicking the blankets off – something unheard of as she’s normally the blanket hog. More correctly, she’s a blanket crocodile. She grabs the sheets and blankets then rolls over and over and over like a croc doing a death-roll with the doomed prey in its jaws. In this case the doomed prey (me) freezes blanket-less for the rest of the night.

She also can’t sleep lying on her expanding belly any more. She now lies on her side (with her knee comfortably jammed firmly in my spine).

Another thing I’ve noticed since she’s pregnant is that Ms. Mom-to-Be seems to be a lot more affectionate. She seems to want to hug and cuddle more than normal. Maybe she’s noticed that I’m planning a 20-year trip to Namibia.
