Grand Canyon and The Kick
This morning I had my hand on her belly to see if I could tell where little baby Pêche was. I was palpating her lower belly and pressing a bit when all of a sudden I felt something like a muscle spasm. Ms. Pregnant exclaimed “ouch!” and looked at me with big eyes. The little Smurf kicked me! (and Mom-to-Be too!). So I stopped pressing – she said I was trying to annoy Pêche.
The altitude is again pretty high – over 7000’ – so she’s finding she’s out of breath a lot. Since we’re mostly driving by car from viewpoint to viewpoint it’s not such a big deal. But we did do a couple of short hikes and she found those to be about what she could handle.
We spent the rest of the day around the Grand Canyon Village viewpoints and then took a sunset helicopter tour around the canyon. The helicopter tour was nice as we got some different perspectives of the canyon and got to see part of the North Rim of the park, but I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be. Next time I think I’d try to either go to the North Rim to see the view from that side and/or take a tour down into the canyon itself. But since we didn’t have the time nor the energy this visit we’ll leave that for next time.
